the cycle calendar

this cycle calendar is born out of a desire to live in a more natural rhythm in this society. the sun, moon and womb all have an influence in our personal and collective lives. i wanted to combine them in one visual overview to be more in tune with my body and my environment. to bloom when the flowers are blooming and to rest when the trees are resting. i am curious where this journey is going to take us.

  • take a moment each cycle to fill out your womb cycle on the calendar.

    see how your inner cycle interacts with the moon phase and season. what would be the best day to plan a deadline? or to visit your parents? and when do you want to plan that yoga class, or HIIT workout?

    hang the calendar on a nice wall in the house and now you have a visual overview of your weeks ahead!

  • here you some suggested options to incorporate your womb cycle in your daily life. your cycle is personal so I just offer these as an inspiration.

    menstrual phase is your inner winter

    a time to release, reflect and rest. rituals such as journalling, slow mornings and warm showers might suit you at this moment. exercise wise i suggest walks, slow dancing or restorative yoga.

    follicular phase is your inner spring

    a time to rise, renew and start to create. rituals such as (creative) brainstorming, start new projects and social activities might suit you at this moment. exercise wise i suggest hikes, dance and light to moderate strength training.

    ovulation phase is your inner summer

    a time to connect, express, reach out. rituals hosting meetings, creative expression and tackling challenging tasks such as might suit you at this moment. exercise wise i suggest strength training and intense work outs.

    luteal is your inner autumn

    a time to start turning inwards, ground and slow down. rituals such as simplifying, boundaries and self care might suit you at this moment. excise wise I suggest going to moderate strength training, stretching and yoga.

  • in this calendar you’ll find the astrological dates of the wheel of the year. these dates signify the exact midpoint between solstices and equinoxes, or at the moment a solstice or equinox occurs.

    the traditional dates are on the same day every year, which is a great way to celebrate these important moments. because my main objective for this calendar is natural rhythms i’ve chosen to write down the astrological dates.

    oh and, they differ because the earth’s orbit is not perfectly even, so these midpoints change slightly every year. 

  • the calendar is designed in a A3 format, printing it in this size assures you enough space to comfortably write your cycle and other information. i would suggest printing it on 120 grams if available as this paper is a bit thicker (and stronger).
